{"id":157847,"date":"2025-11-01T23:19:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T23:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/157847\/"},"modified":"2025-11-01T23:19:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T23:19:07","slug":"two-pedestrians-die-following-road-collisions-in-kildare-and-carlow-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/157847\/","title":{"rendered":"Two pedestrians die following road collisions in Kildare and Carlow \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\/\">Garda\u00ed<\/a> are investigating fatal road traffic collisions in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kildare\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kildare\/\">Co Kildare<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/carlow\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/carlow\/\">Co Carlow<\/a> on Saturday following which two pedestrians died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The collision in Co Kildare occurred on the N7 motorway eastbound at Kill between junctions eight and seven at about 3.30pm. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A male pedestrian in his 30s was seriously injured and taken to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tallaght-university-hospital\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tallaght-university-hospital\/\">Tallaght University Hospital<\/a>. He later died. A postmortem will take place in due course. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The bus driver was uninjured and two passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The N7 between junctions eight and seven eastbound was closed pending technical examination of the scene by Garda forensic collision investigators. The road will remain closed overnight and diversions are in place. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed are also investigating a fatal collision that occurred on the R703 in Ballyroughan Big, Borris, Co Carlow, on Saturday at 4.30pm, in which a car struck a pedestrian.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner has been notified and a postmortem examination will take place in due course.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The driver of the car, a woman in her 60s, was uninjured. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The road remains closed overnight, preserved pending a technical examination. Traffic diversions are in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collisions to contact them.
