A man in his 20s has died following a suspected stabbing in Dublin on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed said they are investigating “all of the circumstances surrounding the death” of the man following the incident in Tyrrelstown, a suburb north west of Dublin city.<\/p>\n
It is understood that the victim\u00a0\u2014 who has been named locally as Victor Mamaliga \u2014 was stabbed in the chest during an altercation.<\/p>\n
Garda cordons have been erected around the residential area, including across a wooded area at the edge of the housing development. An autopsy is expected this afternoon.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson said garda\u00ed received reports of a disturbance at Curragh Hall Crescent involving a group of individuals at around 10.30pm.<\/p>\n
“On the arrival of garda\u00ed, those involved had dispersed,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
“A short time later, a male in his 20s arrived at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, with serious injuries. The male was subsequently pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n
“A male in his 20s has been arrested by investigating garda\u00ed and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at a Garda station in the Dublin Region.”<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed said the scene at Curragh Hall is currently preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The office of the State Pathologist has been notified.<\/p>\n
A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation from the incident room at Blanchardstown Garda Station.<\/p>\n
A Family Liaison Officer has also been assigned to support the family of the deceased.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are now appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.<\/p>\n
