Kristin Chenoweth<\/a> is addressing the rumors that she and Idina Menzel<\/a> did not always see eye to eye during the original run of Wicked<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> ahead of her return to Broadway<\/a> in The Queen of Versailles<\/a>, the Tony Award winner, 57, addressed the longstanding \u201crumors\u201d that she and Menzel \u2014 who originated the role of Elphaba opposite Chenoweth’s Glinda in 2003 \u2014 did not get along behind the curtains of the Broadway musical.<\/p>\n Asked if the rumors are true in the interview, published Nov. 3, Chenoweth first acknowledged the source of the hearsay that has long-swirled about her and Menzel, 54, telling THR, “We are so different in the way we do our process that of course rumors are going to fly, right?”<\/p>\n \u201cShe and I, only we know what we went through to get to where we were,\u201d the star told the outlet of her former costar, who she said she shares a sibling-like bond with.<\/p>\n Bruce Glikas\/FilmMagic<\/p>\n Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth<\/p>\n \u201cWe would die for each other,\u201d Chenoweth continued. \u201cSo it\u2019s like sisters. That\u2019s the best way I can describe it.\u2019<\/p>\n The actress also reflected on the initially negative reviews that Wicked got, and recalled when she knew that regardless of the critics, the musical was sticking around for good.<\/p>\n \u201cI knew it when we opened in San Francisco,\u201d the Tony winner told THR. \u201cI knew it. I remember talking to Idina after opening night in New York. It was a sad day. She goes, \u2018We should have gotten good reviews.\u2019 I go, \u2018No. It doesn\u2019t matter. You are the green girl who flies at the end of Act 1. I come down in a bubble. It is the fourth-longest-running musical in Broadway history.<\/p>\n In 2024’s Wicked<\/a> movie adaptation and the forthcoming second part, For Good, Ariana Grande<\/a> stars as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo<\/a> portrays Elphaba \u2014 and Chenoweth and Menzel made a surprise cameo<\/a> in the first film written specifically for them. As for whether she\u2019ll appear in the forthcoming finale, Chenoweth kept her lips relatively sealed while chatting with THR.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know if I\u2019m allowed to talk about that,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cI don\u2019t think it hurts to say no, I\u2019m not. I think we kind of did our thing and passed the broom and wand, so to speak. But I can\u2019t wait to see it.
