Now this calls for a celebration down at the Ozdust! Jonathan Bailey<\/a> is PEOPLE\u2019s Sexiest Man Alive 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a huge honor. Obviously I\u2019m incredibly flattered. And it\u2019s completely absurd,” the 37-year-old Wicked<\/a> and Bridgerton<\/a> star told the outlet, “It\u2019s been a secret, so I\u2019m quite excited for some friends and family to find out.”<\/p>\n

The Brit makes history by becoming the first out gay man to receive the title of Sexiest Man Alive.<\/p>\n

Of his journey feeling comfortable in his own sexy skin, Bailey said, “At various moments in my life I\u2019ve been like, ‘I\u2019ve got this,’ which is sometimes met by a deep spike of fear and self-doubt. When I was really young, I was very confident about who I was, and maybe I lost that as I grew up. We\u2019re all sort of trying to get back to the origin, aren\u2019t we? But I was swimming in the sea about an hour ago with a good gang, and I felt all right in my skin.”<\/p>\n

Shortly after the announcement was made on The Tonight Show, the official Wicked Instagram<\/a> account shared reactions from several of Bailey’s costars and director Jon M. Chu, all clad in shirts featuring steamy images of the actor from his PEOPLE cover shoot.<\/p>\n

“He’s the sexiest man not only on this planet, but in the solar system, in the universe, and any multiverse,” declared Jeff Goldblum.<\/p>\n

“But also you’re the kindest, and the most brilliant, and beautiful inside as well,” stated Ariana Grande.<\/p>\n

“Now the world knows what I’ve known all along,” said Cynthia Erivo.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s easy to see why Bailey has rightfully earned the title given he has starred in multiple swoon-worthy films and television shows throughout his career. That includes Shonda Rhimes\u2019 regency era romance series Bridgerton, which depicted his character Anthony\u2019s enemies-to-lovers romance with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) in its second season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bailey also danced his way through life and into our hearts as Fiyero in the 2024 film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical, Wicked. And his adventures within the world of Oz are far from over \u2014 he is set to reprise the role in upcoming sequel <\/a>Wicked: For Good<\/a>, which soars its way into theaters on Nov. 21.<\/p>\n

In between, Bailey has also starred in shows like the moving political thriller Fellow Travelers<\/a> and made a guest appearance on Netflix’s heartwarming queer coming-of-age series, Heartstopper<\/a>. He also teamed up with Scarlett Johansson<\/a> and Mahershala Ali<\/a> to usher in a new age of the dinosaur in this summer\u2019s smash hit, Jurassic World Rebirth<\/a> \u2014 with his “slutty little glasses”<\/a> nearly upstaging the dinos.<\/p>\n

With the title, Bailey joins a collection of Hollywood stars who have been been named Sexiest Man Alive since the honor was first given in 1985. In the last decade alone, the title has been bestowed upon David Beckham, Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson, Blake Shelton, Idris Elba, John Legend, Michael B. Jordan, Paul Rudd, Chris Evans, Patrick Dempsey, and last year\u2019s recipient John Krasinski<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

PEOPLE’s annual Sexiest Man Alive issue hits newsstands nationwide on Friday.<\/p>\n
