{"id":162541,"date":"2025-11-04T15:48:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T15:48:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/162541\/"},"modified":"2025-11-04T15:48:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T15:48:09","slug":"rob-hennelly-cillian-oconnor-and-james-carr-return-to-mayo-senior-panel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/162541\/","title":{"rendered":"Rob Hennelly, Cillian O\u2019Connor and James Carr return to Mayo senior panel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rob Hennelly, Cillian O\u2019Connor and James Carr have all returned to the Mayo senior football panel.<\/p>\n<p>Goalkeeper Hennelly, who retired from inter-county football last December at the age of 34, currently plays his club football with Raheny in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Manager Andy Moran has persuaded him back into the fold as he has O\u2019Connor, who is also Dublin-based and took the decision to sit out this past season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The 33-year-old, the championship\u2019s all-time record scorer, did not retire but was keen to take a break having made his senior debut for Mayo at the age of 19.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ardagh man Carr, 28, also opted out of the panel this year after some knee issues but is part of Moran\u2019s plans for 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Moran has also recruited Donegal\u2019s 2012 All-Ireland winning goalkeeper Paul Durcan as his goalkeeping coach. The Four Masters man lives in the county and joins a management team already featuring head coach Paddy Tally and coach\/selector Colm Boyle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mayo\u2019s 2026 National Football League Division 1 campaign commences with a trip to Galway on the weekend of January 24\/25.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Rob Hennelly, Cillian O\u2019Connor and James Carr have all returned to the Mayo senior football panel.
