{"id":163557,"date":"2025-11-05T03:51:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T03:51:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/163557\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T03:51:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T03:51:15","slug":"martin-scorsese-leads-tributes-to-great-improvisational-actor-diane-ladd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/163557\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Scorsese leads tributes to \u2018great improvisational actor\u2019 Diane Ladd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Martin Scorsese<\/strong> has led the tributes to<strong> Diane Ladd<\/strong> after the three-time Academy Award nominee\u2019s death, aged 89.<\/p>\n<p>Ladd, who was directed by Scorsese when she played the brash waitress Flo in Alice Doesn\u2019t Live Here Anymore, also featured in Wild At Heart and Rambling Rose.<\/p>\n<p>Ladd\u2019s death was announced on Monday by her daughter Laura Dern, who said in a statement her mother and occasional co-star had died at her home in Ojai, California, with Dern at her side.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Scorsese said: \u201cI have so many good memories of making Alice Doesn\u2019t Live Here Anymore, and my experiences with Diane are among the best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt that it was so important for the picture to let the actors run with their characters, and what an experience it was to watch Diane take the character of Flo and make something so vivid and funny and alive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiane was a great improvisational actor \u2014 a matter of technique and discipline, but most of all instinct and artistry \u2013 and she had it all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can really feel it in the sunbathing scene with her and Ellen (Burstyn), one of the best scenes in the picture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI loved my time working with Diane, a truly remarkable artist, and I wish we could have worked together again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dern, who called Ladd her \u201camazing hero\u201d and \u201cprofound gift of a mother\u201d, did not cite a cause of death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created,\u201d Dern wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were blessed to have her.
