KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 \u2014 Malaysian rapper Namewee will be remanded for six days to assist in police investigations into the murder of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, his lawyer confirmed today.<\/p>\n
Wee\u2019s lawyer Joshua Tay told Malay Mail that senior assistant registrar Muhammad Faisal Zulkifli granted the remand order for six days.<\/p>\n
Separately, Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam also said that Wee will be remanded from today until November 10.<\/p>\n
Earlier today, Sazalee said the remand application will be made this morning at the Dang Wangi police station.<\/p>\n
Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, earlier confirmed on social media that he would fully cooperate with police investigations into the case.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur police chief CP Datuk Fadil Marsus said the case of a woman found dead on October 22 at a hotel here had been reclassified from sudden death to murder.<\/p>\n
Although he did not identify the victim by name, the case is believed to be linked to Hsieh, who was known online as Iris Hsieh or \u201cNurse Goddess\u201d.<\/p>\n
Local daily The Star yesterday reported Fadil as saying the cause of Hsieh\u2019s death is still under investigation and pending post-mortem and toxicology results.<\/p>\n
Previously, police confirmed the October 22 arrest of Wee in a hotel room in Kuala Lumpur, and that he was remanded for two days before being charged in court on October 24 with two offences for drug possession and drug use.<\/p>\n
Wee pled not guilty to the drug charges and was released on bail, with the next court mention for the drug cases scheduled for December 18.<\/p>\n
He also previously denied drug use and possession on social media.<\/p>\n
