The White House has admitted to trolling the media after sharing a Taylor Swift<\/strong>-inspired TikTok of Donald Trump <\/strong>amid their one-sided feud<\/a>.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

It all kicked off when the White House\u2019s official TikTok page dropped a TikTok video<\/a> soundtracked by Swift\u2019s The Life of a Showgirl<\/a> song, \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia\u201d.<\/p>\n

Riffing on the lyrics of the track, the clip includes pics of the President hugging the American flag (nightmare fuel), as well as other images of Vice President JD Vance <\/strong>and their wives, Melania Trump <\/strong>and Usha Vance <\/strong>(quadruple nightmare fuel).<\/p>\n

Given Swift and Trump\u2019s tumultuous history (more on that later), it wasn\u2019t long before the press asked about the decision to use the pop star\u2019s track, prompting the Trump administration to admit it was rage bait. Yep, we\u2019ve reached this point of the timeline.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe made this video because we knew fake news media brands would breathlessly amplify them,\u201d a White House spokesperson told Us Weekly<\/a>. \u201cCongrats, you got played.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not yet known how the press \u201cgot played\u201d, since the only thing the TikTok draws attention to is unflattering images like Trump\u2019s mugshot and that time he shovelled fries at McDonald\u2019s. If only he\u2019d pursued that instead of the White House.<\/p>\n

The media\u2019s interest in the TikTok arose because of Trump\u2019s previous comments about Swift, including him unleashing on the singer<\/a> after she endorsed his presidential opponent Kamala Harris<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>back in November 2024 \u2014 AKA the simpler times.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!\u201d Trump, presumably with a broken caps lock button, wrote on Truth Social at the time. Flash forward to May of this year and Trump doubled-down, writing, \u201cHas anyone noticed that, since I said \u2018I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,\u2019 she\u2019s no longer \u2018HOT?\u2019\u201d.<\/p>\n

Along the way, the one-sided beef has elsewhere come to include Trump relish<\/a>i<\/a>ng in Swift being booed<\/a> at the Super Bowl, him selling fake Era\u2019s Tour merch<\/a>, and him sharing AI-generated pics of the singer<\/a> actually (and falsely) endorsing him for president.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Swift has appeared unbothered by the mentions, busily releasing a best-selling album and getting engaged to Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a>, the latter of which was somehow taken as an olive branch for Trump.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I wish them a lot of luck,\u201d Trump said<\/a> after news of their engagement. \u201cI think he\u2019s a great guy and I think that she\u2019s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s changing tune about Swift wasn\u2019t explained, but here\u2019s hoping she\u2019s cooking up a Reputation-style clapback of some sort.<\/p>\n
