{"id":166036,"date":"2025-11-06T12:42:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-06T12:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/166036\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T12:42:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T12:42:09","slug":"echostar-to-sell-more-spectrum-licenses-to-spacex-for-2-6-billion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/166036\/","title":{"rendered":"EchoStar to sell more spectrum licenses to SpaceX for $2.6 billion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">(Reuters) -EchoStar (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/SATS\" data-ylk=\"slk:SATS;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SATS<\/a>) said it would sell a set of wireless \u200bspectrum licenses to SpaceX (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/SPAX.PVT\" data-ylk=\"slk:SPAX.PVT;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SPAX.PVT<\/a>) for about $2.\u200c6 billion in exchange for stock in the space \u200cstartup, expanding on the $17 billion deal the companies struck in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Shares of the telecommunications services company rose about 1% in \u2060premarket trading.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The AWS-\u200c3 licenses cover airwaves across the U.S. that can be \u200dused to support mobile and satellite communications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">By combining EchoStar&#8217;s wireless airwaves with SpaceX&#8217;s rocket launch and \u200bsatellite manufacturing capabilities, they can quickly \u200ccreate strong and affordable direct-to-cell services, EchoStar CEO Hamid Akhavan said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">SpaceX said in September it would buy wireless spectrum licenses from EchoStar for its Starlink \u2060satellite network for about $17 \u200bbillion, a major \u200bdeal crucial to expanding Starlink&#8217;s nascent 5G connectivity business.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The company in August sold \u200dsome nationwide \u2060wireless spectrum licenses to AT&amp;T (<a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/quote\/T\" data-ylk=\"slk:T;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">T<\/a>) for $23 billion.
