More than 141,000 bottles of a common cholesterol medication distributed nationwide have been recalled, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The recall involves bottles of Atorvastatin Calcium Tablets sold in 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, and 80 mg. They were sold in 90-count, 500-count, and 1,000-count bottles with expiration dates as late as February 2027.<\/p>\n

Ascend Laboratories, LLC initiated the recall due to failed dissolution specifications, which means the drugs may not dissolve properly in the body once it\u2019s swallowed.<\/p>\n

The bottles of medication were distributed nationwide.<\/p>\n

The recall was initiated on Sept. 19, and was classified to a Class II risk level on Oct. 10.<\/p>\n

A Class II recall is a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.<\/p>\n

The recall remains ongoing, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration report.<\/p>\n
