(Photo by He Shaoping\/VCG via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Vcg | Visual China Group | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Asia-Pacific markets opened lower Friday, tracking Wall Street declines on persistent concerns over lofty valuations in artificial intelligence stocks.<\/p>\n<p>Shares of major AI companies fell Thursday stateside, weighing down on the broader U.S. market. The biggest declines were from<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NVDA\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Nvidia<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/MSFT\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/PLTR\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Palantir Technologies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AVGO\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Broadcom<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AMD\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Advanced Micro Devices<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s benchmark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nikkei 225<\/a> index tumbled 1.38% at the open. Shares of AI-related stocks dragged on the index: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/undefined\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SoftBank<\/a> was down nearly 8%, semiconductor testing equipment maker <a id=\"107291601\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/\" type=\"security\" brand=\"cnbc\" section=\"[object Object]\" contentclassification=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Advantest<\/a> lost more than 6%, chipmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/6723.T-JP\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Renesas Electronics<\/a> fell 4%, and <a id=\"107383852\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/\" type=\"security\" brand=\"cnbc\" section=\"[object Object]\" contentclassification=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tokyo Electron<\/a>, a chip production equipment maker, declined 1.56%.<\/p>\n<p>The Topix index retreated 0.5%.<\/p>\n<p>South Korea&#8217;s Kospi declined 0.46%, while the small-cap Kosdaq lost 0.92%.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s S&amp;P\/ASX 200 fell 0.27%.<\/p>\n<p>Investors in Asia are watching for China&#8217;s October trade data, due later in the day. Economists polled by Reuters expect exports to have slowed to 3% year on year, down from an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/13\/china-september-exports-beat-expectations-imports-rise-at-fastest-pace-since-april-2024.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">8.3% surge in September<\/a>, while imports are forecast to fall to 3.2% from 7.4%.<\/p>\n<p>That comes as weak domestic demand continues to weigh on the back of a prolonged housing slump, rising job insecurity, and the tapering of consumption-focused stimulus measures.<\/p>\n<p>Futures for Hong Kong&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hang Seng Index<\/a> pointed to a lower open, trading at 26,436, against the index&#8217;s previous close of 26,485.9.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. futures edged higher in early Asian hours after Thursday&#8217;s tech sell-off.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 398.70 points, or 0.84%, to close at 46,912.30.
