{"id":16753,"date":"2025-08-22T19:11:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T19:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/16753\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T19:11:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T19:11:08","slug":"amazing-father-facing-serious-drug-charges-bailed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/16753\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cAmazing father\u201d facing &#8220;serious&#8221; drug charges bailed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A Dublin painter has been granted bail after he was arrested on \u201cserious\u201d charges related to the seizure of over \u20ac100,000 worth of drugs in Finglas.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>James Tracey (36) who has an address at Drumsink Park, Finglas, Dublin 11 appeared before Dublin District Court this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Garda Brian O\u2019Carroll gave evidence of how \u20ac101,420 worth of drugs were discovered in \u201cblack bags\u201d attached to a boundary wall connected to the home of the accused.<\/p>\n<p>Despite strong Garda objections, Judge John Brennan admitted the accused to bail on \u201cstrict\u201d conditions, including that he sign on daily and that an independent surety of\u20ac 1,000 be logged in respect of him, as well as that he enter into his own bond of \u20ac2,000.<\/p>\n<p>He is facing six charges, three of which are for alleged breaches of Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, and another three for alleged breaches of Sec 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.<\/p>\n<p>Detective O\u2019Carroll told the court that the charges are likely to be upgraded to Section 15A of the same act.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>Garda Canine Unit<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed stopped a Ford Transit vehicle registered to the accused in the Finglas area at 18:05pm yesterday evening before conducting a search of the vehicle in accordance with Sec 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that \u201ctwo small bags\u201d of cannabis were discovered in the van with the help of sniffer dogs.<\/p>\n<p>After the vehicle and the mobile phone of the accused were seized, Garda\u00ed allege that a \u201chide\u201d was found in the rear of the vehicle which they \u201csuspect\u201d was used to ferry drugs for sale or supply.<\/p>\n<p>Detective O\u2019Carroll also alleged that video footage of \u201cblocks of cannabis resin\u201d were found on Treacy\u2019s phone showing an \u201cidentical\u201d chopping board to the one in the kitchen of his address in Dunsink Park.<\/p>\n<p>The state also says that the geo location of the images matched to the same location, with the drugs found in \u201cblack bags\u201d hanging on a \u201cboundary wall\u201d and \u201con his fence\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The state objected to bail citing \u201cserious concerns\u201d that the accused would attempt to evade the courts in circumstances where he is believed to have been involved in the \u201csophisticated preparation and distribution of drugs\u201d via the \u201cmodification\u201d of his vehicle, which he defending counsel argued he had only purchased 3 months ago for work.<\/p>\n<p>Treacy\u2019s solicitor, Ms. Frayne argued that there was no evidence of the presence of drugs in the \u201chide\u201d and that her client may well have purchased the vehicle in ignorance of its alleged presence.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He had \u201conly bought\u201d the vehicle and there was \u201cnothing found\u201d in the concealment, she argued, to which Det. O\u2019Carroll said, \u201cYou don\u2019t just have a hide in your van for no reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Partner enters the witness stand<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Treacy\u2019s partner.
