Other categories included <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Disability_function\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">disability<\/a>, <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Survivors_function\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">survivors<\/a>, <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Family-children_function\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">family\/children<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Unemployment_function\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unemployment<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Housing_function\" style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">housing <\/a>and <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:Social_exclusion_not_elsewhere_classified_function\" style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">social exclusion not classified elsewhere<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">In 2024, social protection benefits expenditure increased in all EU countries. The largest increases compared with 2023 were recorded in Estonia (+19.5%), Croatia (+17.8%) and Romania (+17.5%), while the smallest increases were registered in Greece (+3.2%), Sweden (+3.9%) and Italy and Denmark (each +4.3%).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Annual change in expenditure on social protection benefits, 2024 (%).
