Hans Wirtz, father of Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz, has offered insight into how his son is settling into life in the Premier League following his \u00a3116million move to Anfield this summer.<\/p>\n
The 22-year-old, who rejected Bayern Munich, is yet to register a goal or an assist in the league but has shown flashes of his quality in the Champions League.<\/p>\n
Earlier this week, Wirtz caught the eye with an impressive display against his former manager, Xabi Alonso, who now manages Real Madrid.<\/p>\n
According to Wirtz Senior, the attacking midfielder is still adjusting to the physicality and pace of English football but remains pleased with his overall progress.<\/p>\n
Florian Wirtz could be handed another start this weekend when Liverpool face Manchester City, as the Reds look to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal, who take on Sunderland on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy thought from the very beginning was to wait and see how the first 10 league games went,\u201d Hans told the German outlet BILD. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe and Florian are perfectly happy with that.<\/p>\n \u201cThe incredible speed, the back and forth, that was very impressive for the first few games.<\/p>\n \u201cThe distances covered and the speed were significantly greater.<\/p>\n \u201cThe style of play is sometimes enormously different because it doesn\u2019t seem as organized, but rather more focused on pace.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI think the league table clearly shows that there\u2019s still room for improvement in this football machine.<\/p>\n \u201cBut the mechanics will sort that out.
