{"id":169681,"date":"2025-11-08T11:59:23","date_gmt":"2025-11-08T11:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/169681\/"},"modified":"2025-11-08T11:59:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-08T11:59:23","slug":"founder-of-one-of-donegals-largest-employers-and-visionary-leader-set-to-retire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/169681\/","title":{"rendered":"Founder of one of Donegal\u2019s largest employers and \u2018visionary leader\u2019 set to retire\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The founder of one of Donegal\u2019s largest employers is set to retire at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Derry businessman Philip O\u2019Doherty is to retire on December 31 from Vertiv Ireland, more than four years after the US-based company bought E+I Engineering which he founded in the late 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>The provider of electrical switchgear and power distribution systems to data centres employed more than 1,000 people at its <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegallive.ie\/search?q=Burnfoot&amp;idcanale=6&amp;idcanalericerca=6&amp;sortElement=data_pubblicazione,true&amp;page=1&amp;sortDefault=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Burnfoot<\/a><\/strong> production facility when <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegallive.ie\/news\/local-news\/662709\/donegal-based-firm-e-i-engineering-sold-to-us-company.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">it was bought by Vertiv Holdings<\/a><\/strong> for at least $1.8 billion in September 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing his retirement, Vertiv Ireland described Mr O\u2019Doherty as \u201ca visionary leader in our industry\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ NEXT:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegallive.ie\/news\/inishowen-md\/1937226\/fahan-event-to-hear-story-of-dutch-family-that-hid-jews-from-nazi-persecution.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Fahan event to hear story of Dutch family that hid Jews from Nazi persecution<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver nearly four decades, Phil built E+I into a global powerhouse in electrical switchgear and power distribution solutions, and we built on that success with the integration with Vertiv in 2021,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis entrepreneurial spirit and technical excellence have left an indelible mark on our industry.
