MasterChef is facing a fresh blow after the BBC<\/a>‘s replacement for Gregg Wallace<\/a>\u00a0reportedly pulled out of the programme before filming started.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chef Tom Kerridge<\/a>, 52, was set to host the next series of the cooking show alongside food critic Grace Dent<\/a>, 51, The Sun reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But insiders have now revealed that Kerridge has pulled out due to ‘a dispute over Tom’s contract and his pay’.<\/p>\n

Sources told The Sun: ‘His team wants him to get more money and have put the brakes on.<\/p>\n

‘It’s a nightmare for MasterChef and the BBC because filming for the next series is due to start imminently.<\/p>\n

‘They need to get Tom locked down with Grace. But if he doesn’t get the deal he wants, they’ll be looking for a replacement.’<\/p>\n

The Daily Mail has approached the BBC and Kerridge’s representatives for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The fresh blow comes after former MasterChef hosts Wallace and John Torode were sacked after almost 20 years on the show by the BBC last month after an investigation upheld allegations about their poor behaviour.<\/p>\n

The fresh blow comes after former MasterChef hosts Gregg Wallace (pictured) and John Torode were sacked after almost 20 years on the show by the BBC last month<\/p>\n

Wallace had 40 complaints upheld, including one where he was accused of wandering around set naked with a sock on his penis.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Torode was found to have used a racist term in 2018, but he maintains that he has no recollection using the word.<\/p>\n

Their final series of MasterChef was filmed before they were both fired.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The show’s bosses have insisted on keeping them in the final edit – but only if they were on screen less and their banter and jokes were cut down to a minimum.<\/p>\n

Several contestants asked to be edited out themselves to avoid being on screen with them.<\/p>\n

Last month, Wallace\u00a0claimed he was sorry for hurting the people accusing him of being ‘a sex pest’.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The former host tearfully pleaded ‘I’m not a groper, a sex pest or a flasher’ in his first interview since the BBC axed him following complaints from multiple women over several years.<\/p>\n

Wallace added that he feels unfairly treated and claims he has been discussed in the same breath as sex offenders Jimmy Savile and Huw Edwards which he says has taken a toll on him and his family.<\/p>\n

He told that he understood some of his actions may have offended people and ‘weren\u2019t socially acceptable’ but denied being a ‘wrong-un’.<\/p>\n

Wallace also backed his former MasterChef co-host John Torode,\u00a0claiming ‘he’s not a racist’, and said his biggest regret was ever venturing into TV work, adding his life was much better when he was a greengrocer.<\/p>\n
