OutKast<\/a> have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. See the highlights below.<\/p>\n

Back in April, it was announced that the hip-hop duo were set to be inducted<\/a> alongside names including\u00a0The White Stripes<\/a>,\u00a0Cyndi Lauper<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Soundgarden<\/a>.\u00a0At last night\u2019s (November 8) ceremony,\u00a0Andr\u00e9 3000<\/a> and Big Boi<\/a> were introduced by Donald Glover<\/a>, who told the crowd that he grew up listening to OutKast in Atlanta, inspiring his work as Childish Gambino<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBig Boi and Andr\u00e9, I want to personally, thank you. Around the time \u2018Speakerboxxx\/The Love Below\u2019 came out, I wrote a letter from college to my brother, and I said, \u2018I had a dream that we wrote a show together,\u2019\u201d said Glover in his speech, referencing his show Atlanta.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for showing me that brothers may not always see eye to eye and their philosophies or styles, but they need each other in a world that would rather see them both fail together,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cAtlanta is not the music Mecca it has become without you. There is no Childish Gambino without you. There is no South without you.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the duo\u2019s acceptance speech, Andr\u00e9 3000 said: \u201cA lot of times it\u2019s a lot more than just the notes or the instruments that you playing. It\u2019s everybody that\u2019s around you. It\u2019s the family, and this is my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the wives, it\u2019s the girlfriends, it\u2019s the girl you broke up with that pissed you off and made you write a song,\u201d he continued. \u201cAll of that is important. It has a lot to do with the bands that were out at the same time that influenced us, all the rappers that were out, from Busta Rhymes<\/a> to Missy [Elliot]<\/a> to Nas<\/a> to Wu-Tang [Clan]<\/a> and then even before, we got Kilo [Ali], we got Raheem the Dream. We were watching dancers in Atlanta. Those were our heroes growing up.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to reference his fellow 2025 inductee Jack White<\/a>. \u201cMan, he\u2019s one of my favourites. Man, we love you. He said something about little rooms, and we started\u2026\u201d Andr\u00e9 3000 said before choking up. \u201cGreat things start in little rooms.\u201d<\/p>\n

After their induction, Doja Cat<\/a>, Killer Mike<\/a>, J.I.D.<\/a>, Tyler, the Creator<\/a>, and Janelle Mon\u00e1e<\/a> joined Big Boi (but not Andr\u00e9) for a medley of the duo\u2019s classic hits, including \u2018ATLiens\u2019, \u2018Ms. Jackson\u2019, \u2018B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)\u2019 and \u2018Hey Ya!\u2019.<\/p>\n

Last December,\u00a0Andr\u00e9 3000 said that OutKast were \u201cfurther away\u201d from making new music together \u201cthan we\u2019ve ever been\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll say maybe 10, 15 years ago, in my mind, I thought an OutKast album would happen,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t know the future, but I can say that we\u2019re further away from it than we\u2019ve ever been.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s hard for me to make a rap, period, you know? And sometimes I\u2019m in the belief of, \u2018Let things be\u2019\u201d, he told\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201c[OutKast] was a great time in life, and our chemistry was at a certain place that was undeniable,\u201d he said, brushing against the notion that \u201csomething has to last forever\u201d.<\/p>\n

In May this year,\u00a0he released a surprise solo EP \u20187 Piano Sketches\u2019<\/a>, a series of improvisations on piano mostly recorded at a house in Texas.<\/p>\n
