Last season, we were very close and spoke on a daily basis,\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/nottm-forest-nuno-drops-marinakis-broken-relationship-bombshell-i-dont-know-if-it-can-continue\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">he explained<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis season it is not so well [between us], but I always believe that dialogue is important because my concern is the squad and the season we have ahead of us. Our relationship has changed, and we are not as close.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/opinion-marinakis-push-postecoglou-fuming-nuno-right-seek-forest-sack\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marinakis push for Postecoglou shows \u2018fuming\u2019 Nuno is right to seek Nottingham Forest sack<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That comments followed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.football365.com\/news\/nottm-forest-considering-sacking-nuno-marinakis-evaluating-coaches-one-reason-tension\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rumours of Nuno\u2019s potential sacking on Friday<\/a><\/strong>; in response to those reports the Portuguese boss said: \u201cWhere there\u2019s smoke, there\u2019s fire, so I know how things work, but I\u2019m here to do my job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But now <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6569506\/2025\/08\/22\/nuno-edu-row-nottingham-forest\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Athletic claim<\/a><\/strong> the rift at Forest isn\u2019t between Nuno and Marinakis, but Nuno and Edu, with the Forest owner now faced with the very real prospect of having to choose between them, with the relationship between the duo \u2018potentially irreparable\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s been a \u2018spectacular fallout behind the scenes\u2019 and Nuno is said to have made \u2018made his feelings clear, particularly about Edu, both to the man himself and others at the club\u2019, with Marinakis \u2018aligning himself with Edu\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The issues have \u2018been bubbling away for the past two months\u2019 to leave Marinakis \u2018in a difficult position\u2019 as the pair are \u2018not even on speaking terms\u2019, with \u2018Nuno largely the aggressor\u2019 while Edu \u2018stays away from the training ground\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Nuno aired their dirty laundry last week ahead of their first game against Brentford.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cWe are very far \u2013 very, very far \u2013 from where we should be. We are very far in terms of preparation, in terms of planning, in terms of the squad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo we are all very worried that in two or three days\u2019 time we are playing for the Premier League, the most demanding competition in the world. And we are very far. Very, very far.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plans that we had didn\u2019t come through. The preparation in terms of squad was not ideal. We didn\u2019t have a chance to create the bond \u2013 and this is what I think is more important.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause we don\u2019t know which squad we have. We have players working here that know they\u2019re going to leave on loan.
