In 2024, the band released the docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, which covered the lead singer\u2019s disappointment that his voice does not sound like it did back in the 1980s.<\/p>\n
And he found no difficulty in being so vulnerable in the four-part Disney+ show.<\/p>\n
The It\u2019s My Life singer said: \u201cI don\u2019t mind being vulnerable. I only ever wanted to tell the truth, no matter what phase of our lives we were in.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I didn\u2019t anticipate the surgery, and I certainly didn\u2019t anticipate the recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n
The docuseries was released alongside Bon Jovi\u2019s 16th studio album, Forever, which marked his first return to the studio since he underwent vocal cord surgery.<\/p>\n
However, the music legend could not promote the record because of still being in recovery, which he said \u201csucked\u201d because he knew the \u201cjoyful\u201d LP was \u201cdead\u201d without a promotional tour.<\/p>\n
Bon Jovi said: \u201cWe were releasing the album along with the docuseries [Thank You, Goodnight], and we were going to do our 40th anniversary celebration and tour.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I had this traumatising throat surgery, and as we released [the album], I started to rehearse with the band and I said, \u2018Guys, I\u2019m sorry, but I\u2019m just not up to it yet\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
On numerous occasions, Bon Jovi told his bandmates he was ready to go \u2013 but he was met with a lot of \u201cno\u2019s\u201d.<\/p>\n
Asked if that was tricky to deal with, he said: \u201cIt\u2019s tough, and there have been [other] days when I\u2019ve said I\u2019m done, and they said, \u2018No, you\u2019re not. Think of the progress you\u2019ve made since last month and the month before\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
And in an impressive turnaround, Bon Jovi will be back on the stage with the band performing their hits to fans in 2026, beginning with a nine-night residency at Madison Square Garden, New York, and ending with three nights at Wembley Stadium, London.<\/p>\n
Although he cannot give much away, the singer said he can sing every song in the set list \u2013 as well as an alternative one.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only good news I can tell you is there\u2019s nothing in the catalogue I can\u2019t sing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
