Thousands of heat pumps may be impacted, with the CCPC identifying the risk of electrocution\"FileFile image of heat pump being installed<\/p>\n

Ireland’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission<\/a> has announced a major safety notice regarding a popular heat-circulating pump, with thousands of affected products in Ireland.<\/p>\n

A risk of electrocution has been identified due to a mains electrical coupling issue. According to the CCPC, there are approximately 5,000 affected products in Ireland, with close to 1,000 of the units in Northern Ireland<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the CCPC said: “A safety issue has been identified with INTERTRADE 6 metre and GBP-FLO 6 metre head circulating pumps manufactured by Tucson Pumps Limited used in heating systems. The INTERTRADE pumps were manufactured between 2021 and November 2024. The GBP-FLO pumps were manufactured between 2023 and November 2024.<\/p>\n

“It has been identified that the mains electrical coupling to the pump can be connected in reverse which can pose a serious risk of electrocution.<\/p>\n

“The brands are INTERTRADE and GBP-FLO. The affected circulating pumps are the INTERTRADE 6m and GBP-FLO 6m.”<\/p>\n

INTERTRADE pumps with serial numbers S\/N D32 (or earlier), S\/N C*, S\/N B* or S\/N A* are affected, as are GPB-FLO pumps with serial numbers S\/N D32* or earlier and S\/N C*.<\/p>\n

What to do if affected?<\/p>\n

If your pump is affected by the safety notice, it can remain in operation but you need to take care not to handle it due to the electrocution risk.<\/p>\n

If you think you have an affected product then you are urged to contact Tucson immediately via email at productsafety@tucsonpumps.ie<\/a> or call 01 842 6255.<\/p>\n

Tucson will then arrange for inspection of the installed units of affected models, as well as the installation of an updated electrical coupling and connector on the pump motor. This will be free of charge.<\/p>\n

As you may not realise that you have an affected pump, the CCPC has suggested that if you have had work done on your heating system or have moved house in the last four years, you should check if you have one of the affected pumps.<\/p>\n
