It is unusual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/life-style\/people\/2025\/10\/31\/miriam-ocallaghan-receptiongate-was-the-most-stressful-moment-of-my-entire-career\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Miriam O\u2019Callaghan: \u2018Receptiongate was the most stressful moment of my entire career\u2019Opens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">The RT\u00c9 broadcaster has recently released her memoir titled \u201cMiriam: Life, Work, Everything\u201d, all of which we delve into in the latest episode of Conversations with Parents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">O\u2019Callaghan is at pains to tell host Jen Hogan that she understands how lucky she is to have a large family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">After having her first daughter she suffered secondary infertility, undergoing fertility treatment to eventually conceive six years later. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">\u201cI tell that story&#8230; because I\u2019m conscious, Jen, that so many people can\u2019t have children and I don\u2019t want to look like it was always easy, because it wasn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">O\u2019Callaghan also reveals she had a number of miscarriages, including a later pregnancy loss, and a frightening complication on her last birth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">Perhaps one of the most traumatic and formative events in her life was the loss of her sister Anne, who died of stomach cancer at the age of 32.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">She and O\u2019Callaghan had babies close in age, and spent their early years of mothering together \u201cas a unit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">\u201c[Her death] had a devastating impact on me.
