GEMA is seeking the establishment of a licensing framework that would require AI developers to pay for the use of musical works in both training and output.

The decision can be appealed. OpenAI and GEMA said they would issue statements on the verdict later on Tuesday.

Reporting by Joern Poltz, Writing by Friederike Heine, Editing by Madeline Chambers

Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles., opens new tab

Purchase Licensing Rights

MUNICH, Nov 11 (Reuters) – A German court on Tuesday sided with the country’s music rights society GEMA…

[261
291,82519,82793,289,290,82499,82758,36586,94443,84892,82517,82794,82500,94002,82795,85474,84110,82525,82559,82530,88153,82528,82532,82531,99595,85215,82529,18,55396,85475,4893,82520,82522,88141,32356,82503,86743,82516,45748,19,82765,82796,17,82797,84435,82798,50178,721,88835,93734,82768,88836,337,82524,88151,85216,82508,83810,17827,82510,2608,82964,82558,99594,90104,82512,12368,84106,84107,82801,753,82,30150,107,82518,94449
post-174862","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-artificial-intelligence","tag-ai","tag-amers","tag-arti","tag-artificial-intelligence","tag-artificialintelligence","tag-bact","tag-bisv","tag-biz","tag-caribn","tag-ccos","tag-ceeu","tag-clj","tag-cmpny","tag-copyr","tag-cprod","tag-crim","tag-cycs","tag-de","tag-destlita","tag-destocabsm","tag-destoip","tag-destoukbsm","tag-destouktpm","tag-destousbsm","tag-destousenm","tag-destouspom","tag-destoustcm","tag-eire","tag-emea","tag-ent","tag-eu","tag-europ","tag-ezc","tag-fake1","tag-fin","tag-fins","tag-fraud1","tag-gb","tag-gen","tag-ie","tag-intag","tag-iprop","tag-ireland","tag-itec","tag-itse","tag-judic","tag-latam","tag-legal","tag-mdia","tag-mlaisv","tag-mngiss","tag-msic","tag-music","tag-namer","tag-nrlpaoip","tag-packageus-politics","tag-pol","tag-privt","tag-pub","tag-publ","tag-read","tag-regs","tag-reuters-legal","tag-rulescompany-openai","tag-rulesworld-germany","tag-sci","tag-show","tag-sofw","tag-sofw1","tag-swit","tag-tech","tag-technology","tag-tmt","tag-us","tag-weu","tag-windie
["GET
