Here\u2019s to hoping Chris Elliott<\/strong> comes armed with his strong hand for Scary Movie 6<\/strong>; the returning actor and Scary Movie veteran Cheri Oteri<\/strong> are among the latest cast additions joining the upcoming installment.<\/p>\n

Elliott, who memorably played Hell House caretaker Hanson in Scary Movie 2, and Oteri, who played Gail Hailstorm in the original film<\/a>, are joined by Damon Wayans Jr.<\/strong> (New Girl),\u00a0Kim Wayans<\/strong> (In Living Color), and\u00a0Heidi Gardner<\/strong>, per Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Character details remain under wraps at this time, so it\u2019s unclear whether Elliott and Oteri will be reprising their memorable Scary Movie roles. Especially considering that Elliott also appeared as Ezekiel in Scary Movie 4.<\/p>\n

Scary Movie 6 is currently in production, with previously announced legacy cast members including Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Regina Hall, Anna Faris, Lochlyn Munro, Dave Sheridan<\/strong>, and Jon Abrahams<\/strong>. Franchise newcomers Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber<\/strong>, and Benny Zielke<\/strong> also star.<\/p>\n

Michael Tiddes<\/strong> is directing the franchise\u2019s upcoming sixth installment, releasing on\u00a0June 12, 2026<\/strong>, with\u00a0Rick Alvarez<\/strong> writing and producing alongside the Wayans brothers.<\/p>\n

The first\u00a0Scary Movie was released in 2000, just four years after Wes Craven reinvigorated the horror genre with his meta slasher masterpiece,\u00a0Scream. The film parodied horror movies of the time, including\u00a0Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and\u00a0The Blair Witch Project, and the horror-comedy spoof scared up $278 million at the worldwide box office.<\/p>\n

The smash hit box office success of that first Scary Movie paved the way for an entire franchise of horror movie spoofs, with five of them in total released between 2000 and 2013.<\/p>\n

Only the first two\u00a0Scary Movie installments were created by the Wayans Brothers; however, Scary Movie 6 marks their return to the franchise for the first time since 2001.<\/p>\n

Casting certainly suggests that Scary Movie 6 may be gearing up to lampoon the legacy sequel, but time will tell.<\/p>\n
