A Tipperary GAA club has been given extra time to build a new pitch, walking track, and dressing rooms from Tipperary County Council after difficulty securing funding and workers to carry out the project.<\/p>\n
Nenagh Eire Og GAA Club had been granted permission for the new pitch, dressing rooms and walking track, as well as a new car parking area, flood lighting system, and protective ball netting by Tipperary County Council, with the current planning application due to expire by September 21.<\/p>\n
Works have already gotten underway on the site at Stereame in Nenagh, with the new pitch laid, and the site cleared of previous footpaths and roads.<\/p>\n
Overhead ESB cables have also been routed underground, while most of the walking track is complete, planning files state.<\/p>\n
The bases for the floodlights have been installed, and fencing and entrances are complete.<\/p>\n
The club say the delay in carrying out the works comes due to difficulty in securing funding for the project, a scarcity of labour, and knock-on effects from the covid-19 pandemic since the original planning permission was granted in 2020.<\/p>\n
Nenagh Eire Og say that the walking track, dressing rooms and carpark need to be completed, with protective ball netting to be erected.<\/p>\n
The development is expected to be fully completed by August 2030, agents for Nenagh Eire Og said.<\/p>\n
The local authority granted unconditional permission for the extension of the duration of the planning permission.<\/p>\n
