Model Ella Halikas<\/strong> recently reacted to Sydney Sweeney<\/strong>\u2018s newest movie, Christy<\/strong>, and its lackluster performance at the box office. Directed by David Mich\u00f4d, the biographical movie centers on the rise to fame of the renowned female boxer Christy Martin in the 1990s. On its opening weekend, the movie earned just $1.3 million across North America.<\/p>\n

TMZ<\/a> recently spoke with Halikas, who shared her thoughts on Sweeney-starrer Christy flopping<\/a> at the box office. The outlet\u2019s reporter initially asked her take on the matter. They stated, \u201cA lot of people are saying online it\u2019s not doing the best because she\u2019s not her usual half-naked kind of role.\u201d She agreed with the reporter on this. Halikas further added, \u201cI feel like when you are more covered and you\u2019re not in that role [sexy roles], there kind of we don\u2019t know what to take of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Halikas believed that Sweeney had been accustomed to being perceived in a certain way due to her previous roles. However, now that she has taken on a more unconventional role, Halikas suggested that the audience\u2019s interest seemed to have shifted. \u201cShe has branded herself to be this beautiful woman on screen, where they\u2019re gonna see that body, so if they don\u2019t, it\u2019s kind of a different role for her. I feel like maybe you missed the crowd, her audience, that way,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Following the box office failure, the \u2018Euphoria\u2019 actress took to Instagram<\/a> to share a series of pictures from the sets of Christy. She also shared a lengthy note alongside the pictures. Addressing the movie\u2019s performance, she wrote, \u201cif christy gave even one woman the courage to take her first step toward safety, then we will have succeeded.\u201d She continued, \u201cso yes I\u2019m proud.\u201d She added, \u201cwhy? because we don\u2019t always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact.\u201d The actress concluded, \u201cand christy has been the most impactful project of my life. thank you christy. i love you.\u201d<\/p>\n
