{"id":177632,"date":"2025-11-13T01:28:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-13T01:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/177632\/"},"modified":"2025-11-13T01:28:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T01:28:08","slug":"third-man-arrested-in-cross-border-terror-investigation-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/177632\/","title":{"rendered":"Third man arrested in cross-Border terror investigation \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A third man has been arrested as part of a cross-Border terrorism investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man, aged in his 30s, was detained in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/laois\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/laois\/\">Co Laois<\/a> this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He remains in custody tonight at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\">Garda<\/a> station in the midlands where he is being held under Section 30 of Offences Against the State Act, 1939.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Last week, two men, aged in their 40s and 30s, appeared at Portlaoise District Court charged in connection with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The two accused had been arrested after police on both sides of the border recovered a number of items in searches in Co Down and Co Laois.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The counter terrorism investigation is being led by the Garda\u2019s Special Detective Unit. \u2013 PA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A third man has been arrested as part of a cross-Border terrorism investigation.
