Hamilton High School scored 2-16 in their opening-day triumph, but laboured to tally three points in a round-two Corn U\u00ed Mhuir\u00ed defeat to Presentation Milltown at Banteer.<\/p>\n

The Bandon school struggled to retain possession or commit enough numbers to attack as they failed to register a score in the entire first half. After a brief rally, the Kerry side stretched away to record a 10-point victory.<\/p>\n

A score difference of +3 keeps Hammies second in Group 2 ahead of a winner-takes-all clash with Intermediate School, Killorglin.<\/p>\n

Pres were without their round one top scorer, Killian Fitzgerald, the midfielder pairing of Diarmuid and Donnacha Quirke, and former Kerry minor Michael Lynch.<\/p>\n

Regardless of those absentees, they took control from the first whistle to get off the first five shots. Amid incessant rain, none were converted. Cillian Slattery almost profited from a loose ball, but Rory Curtin saved well.<\/p>\n

At the other end, Hammies broke through for Daniel Coughlan to smash the crossbar. The rebound cannoned off the luckless Daniel Murphy\u2019s boot and rolled wide.<\/p>\n

With that let off, Pres found their range in the 16th minute. Brien Mangan won a free for Kevin Coffey to pop over.<\/p>\n

That sparked them to life. Coffey curled over from play after a Shane O\u2019Loughlin turnover. Then, Mangan picked out Ryan Costello in space for their third.<\/p>\n

Mangan was their leading light. His block down at one end led to their next score, a free won and converted by Coffey.<\/p>\n

Then, his pinpoint kick found O\u2019Loughlin to swing over the score of the day with his right boot for a 0-5 to 0-0 half-time lead.<\/p>\n

After seeking shelter from the rain, Hammies finally opened their account in the 33rd minute. Full-back Ben Coffey won a free for Eoin Maguire to fire over.<\/p>\n

Their only score from play followed. Darragh \u00d3 Math\u00fana, Diarmaid Brady, and Eddie O\u2019Sullivan were involved in a quick passing exchange to release Adam Griffin to score.<\/p>\n

Pres had cancelled out that progress by the three-quarter mark with O\u2019Loughlin and Se\u00e1n Clifford points.<\/p>\n

Two high catches by Griffin and Donagh Flynn led to the latter drawing a second free for Maguire to split the posts.<\/p>\n

But it was game over in the 48th minute. Impressive Kingdom full-back Marcus Clifford, Mangan, and Ryan Carey were involved before Slattery palmed home the dropping ball.<\/p>\n

A Costello brace and Coffey extended the final margin, although Curtin saved Hammies from a late concession when denying Carey.<\/p>\n
