During the most recent episode of Paltrow\u2019s \u201cThe Goop\u201d podcast<\/a>, the actress shared that she has found herself facing a mental health struggle she has never faced before.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a lot of anxiety for the very first time in my life, which is just a symptom of hormonal changes,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 53-year-old star spoke about how estrogen dominance has made her \u201creally anxious,\u201d alongside being famous. “So part of it is physiological, part of it is psychological, part of it\u2019s emotional and part of it\u2019s public life,” explained.<\/p>\n

The “Iron Man” actress recalled living \u201ca very intense life in the public eye,\u201d and being affected by other people\u2019s opinions, so much that it \u201cfrays\u201d her nervous system.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Paltrow\u2019s mental health struggles have also affected her physically. She shared that although her sleep is still \u201cpretty okay,\u201d she often goes to bed feeling exhausted and wakes up with a racing heart.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy sleep is still pretty okay, but sometimes I wake up first thing in the morning and I\u2019m filled with dread. But it\u2019s never been who I am, so there\u2019s a lot of parts to it, but definitely there\u2019s a big nervous system component,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Paltrow\u2019s anxiety got to a point where she would find herself allowing small things such as a negative work email to feel like a \u201cslap in the face.\u201d As such, she is actively working towards wiring herself to adjust the way she reacts to bad news.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Golden Globe winner is seeing a nervous system specialist and a therapist to help her manage her anxiety. She is also leaning on her family and friends, who have proven to be a great support system for her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then I get a lot of healing from my family, from my kids, and my husband. If I can be with everyone, especially if all four kids \u2014 my stepkids and my kids \u2014 and my husband and I, if we\u2019re under one roof, my nervous system calms down,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In addition to feeling anxious, Paltrow also said that she has \u201ca bit of ADD\u201d and can \u201csort of get pulled in lots of directions.\u201d As such, she is being more intentional about managing her time and doing things that make her feel \u201cgrounded throughout the day.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

When there were rumors of an unhealthy work environment at Goop, the actress addressed them, saying, \u201cThat bothers me. ‘Oh, Goop has a toxic culture.’ That drives me insane because we have never had that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to The Blast<\/a>, she stressed that her company has a \u201cgood culture,\u201d which she is proud of because she has \u201cworked so hard\u201d on it.
