\n\tCristin Milioti<\/a> insists she\u2019s not thinking too much about the possibility of \u201cThe Penguin<\/a>\u201d getting a second season.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI feel like I have zero chill about it because every time I\u2019m asked [about a Season 2], I\u2019m like, \u2018Sign me up!\u2019\u201d Milioti, who an Emmy for her work on the DC Comics show, told me while promoting her new animated Netflix movie \u201cIn Your Dreams<\/a>.\u201d \u201cI love [series creator] Lauren [LeFranc] so much. I love our whole cast. It\u2019s such an incredible group.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Penguin\u201d star Colin Farrell has consistently maintained that he is in \u201cno rush\u201d for a sophomore run of the series. \u201cI don\u2019t want it. I don\u2019t\u00a0not\u00a0want it,\u201d he told me at the SAG Awards in February. \u201cWe all left it in the ring in those eight hours. \u2026 So I\u2019m in no rush. I have no deep desire to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, in July, after the Emmy nominations were announced, HBO and Max boss Casey Bloys told Variety\u2019s Michael Schneider that LeFranc and executive producer Matt Reeves have had discussions about Season 2<\/a>. Reeves confirmed at the Emmys that conversations occurred<\/a>, but his current priority is directing the second \u201cThe Batman\u201d movie with Robert Pattinson.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIn Your Dreams\u201d tackles divorce as two young siblings meet the mythical Sandman in their dreams and ask him to help keep their parents (Milioti and Simu Liu<\/a>) together as they move towards separating.<\/p>\n

\n\tMilioti first read the script in 2021. \u201cIt really moved me to think about how we deal with hardships and how we sometimes want things to be different, and the ways in which we navigate that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile marriage problems may seem too serious an issue for a family film, Milioti points to other animated movies that tackle deeper subjects.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf you go back and look at some of the Disney films like \u2018The Lion King\u2019 \u2013 it\u2019s \u2018Hamlet.\u2019 And \u2018Bambi\u2019? Forget about it,\u201d Milioti said. \u201cThat is one of the most special things about this movie and about animation, too. It sort of begins this nuanced conversation with kids like, \u2018This can be really hard and scary. This can feel like your world is falling apart and it is changing. But it is not as scary as it might seem.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
