publication=\"irishmirror\">The payment date for the Christmas Bonus is fast approaching &#8211; but not everyone will qualify for the festive boost.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">The Christmas Bonus is a one-off double week payment for individuals receiving a long-term <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/social-welfare\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"social welfareLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">social welfare<\/a> payment &#8211; and it&#8217;s worth 100% of your weekly scheme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">There&#8217;s no need to apply for the Bonus &#8211; if you&#8217;re eligible, you&#8217;ll receive it automatically.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">The payment was confirmed as part of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/the-budget\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Budget 2026 <\/a>and is expected to benefit around 1.5 million long-term welfare recipients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">While the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/department-of-social-protection\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Department of Social Protection<\/a> has not yet announced the exact date, it did confirm that the Christmas Bonus will be paid in December to those receiving a qualifying social welfare payment and it&#8217;s typically paid alongside your regular social welfare payment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">A rule that often trips people up each year is the requirement to be receiving certain payments for a specific duration, reports <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rsvplive.ie\/news\/irish-news\/social-welfare-ireland-full-list-36238351\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">RSVP Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1_GettyImages-2223764104.jpg\" alt=\"Wallet filled with euro notes\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The Government has confirmed that the Christmas Bonus will be paid in December to around 1.5 million people, but not everyone on social welfare will qualify<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">According to the Department of Social Welfare website: &#8220;12 months duration on eligible social welfare payment or scheme is required in order to be eligible for Bonus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">This applies to individuals receiving the Back to Education Allowance, Daily Expenses Allowance, Illness Benefit and Jobseeker&#8217;s Allowance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">While the exact payment date for the Christmas Bonus hasn&#8217;t been confirmed yet, based on past years, it&#8217;s anticipated to be paid to recipients on Monday, 1 December.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">Individuals who are receiving the following payments will get the Christmas Bonus.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"irishmirror\">Some people may be eligible for a double <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishmirror.ie\/all-about\/christmas\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Christmas Bonus<\/a> without even realising it.
