In a post shared on X, formerly Twitter, the world’s richest man explained that as software companies like Microsoft don’t manufacture physical hardware, it should be possible to “simulate them entirely with AI.” Taking a dig at the software giant, he even noted that engineers who join xAI will be able to work on building a “purely AI software company called Macrohard.” Musk even clarified that the name ‘Macrohard’ may sound made up but the “project is very real.

What Musk said about new software company that will compete with Microsoft

In his X post, Musk wrote: “Join @xAI and help build a purely AI software company called Macrohard. It’s a tongue-in-cheek name, but the project is very real!In principle, given that software companies like Microsoft do not themselves manufacture any physical hardware, it should be possible to simulate them entirely with AI.”According to a report by PCMag, this announcement from Musk came weeks after xAI registered the Macrohard trademark with the US Patent Office. However this is not the first time he teased the name ‘Macrohard’. In 2021, Musk tweeted: “Macrohard >> Microsoft.”Last month, he mentioned that he was starting a “multi-agent AI software company” that would use xAI’s Grok chatbot. In this post, Musk wrote: “We are creating a multi-agent AI software company @xAI, where @Grok spawns hundreds of specialized coding and image/video generation/understanding agents all working together and then emulates humans interacting with the software in virtual machines until the result is excellent. This is a macro challenge and a hard problem with stiff competition! Can you guess the name of this company? 🤭”Musk seems to be planning to use AI to generate software that could compete with Microsoft’s Office programs, the report added. He has also expressed interest in using AI to create video games. The development of Macrohard appears to involve xAI’s Colossus supercomputer in Memphis, the report notes.Musk has also said that xAI will purchase millions of Nvidia enterprise-grade GPUs, similar to OpenAI and Meta.

Elon Musk is calling on engineers to join his artificial intelligence (AI) company, xAI, to take on Microsoft’s…

[261
291,289,290,18,1647,19,17,15832,305,82,11380
0":"post-18558","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-artificial-intelligence","8":"tag-ai","9":"tag-artificial-intelligence","10":"tag-artificialintelligence","11":"tag-eire","12":"tag-elon-musk","13":"tag-ie","14":"tag-ireland","15":"tag-macrohard","16":"tag-microsoft","17":"tag-technology","18":"tag-xai
["GET
