TRAVEL REPORTER<\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"byline-section\"> Published:  08:52 EST, 17 November 2025   |  Updated:  08:52 EST, 17 November 2025   <\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/japan\/index.html\" id=\"mol-43db6a90-c3b7-11f0-82a8-47443cdb2729\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Japan<\/a>\u00a0after a record number of wildlife-related deaths were recorded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Attracting millions of tourists each year with its breath-taking cities and landscapes, the popular Asian destination has seen a surge in bear attacks recently.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Japan&#8217;s Environment Ministry revealed 88 people were attacked by the animals in October alone and seven people died, according to <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"class\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www3.nhk.or.jp\/nhkworld\/en\/news\/20251117_10\/#:~:text=Japan&#039;s%20Environment%20Ministry%20says%2088,killed%20and%20184%20were%20injured.\">NHK World Japan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">This was the worst month for bear attacks in the past decade and has led to the UK Foreign Office warning tourists hoping to head to the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The update reads: &#8216;Bear sightings and attacks have increased in parts of Japan, especially in mountainous and forested areas, including near populated zones.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">&#8216;Follow local advice and alerts, and take precautions if travelling in these areas.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">It urges visitors to &#8216;research the region to learn about the local wildlife&#8217; and\u00a0avoid walking alone in areas where bears have been sighted&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The warning also recommends to people &#8216;take all rubbish with you, including food waste&#8217;
