{"id":18934,"date":"2025-08-23T19:49:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-23T19:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/18934\/"},"modified":"2025-08-23T19:49:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-23T19:49:07","slug":"aghada-secure-vital-pifc-victory-over-bantry-with-six-goal-haul","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/18934\/","title":{"rendered":"Aghada secure vital PIFC victory over Bantry with six-goal haul"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">\n             Aghada 6-8 (6-0-8) Bantry Blues 1-17 (1-2-13)\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Aghada are off the mark in this year\u2019s McCarthy Insurance Group Cork Premier IFC thanks to a six-goal blast and victory over Bantry Blues in Kilmichael.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A crunch Group 1 encounter, given the two clubs lost their Premier IFC opening round ties, saw the East Cork side emerge deserving winners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Three goals in either half did the damage with the winners finding the net three times in the closing 10 minutes thanks to Diarmuid Phelan (2) and Jamie O\u2019Hanlon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Crestfallen at the final whistle, Bantry Blues know that nothing less than victory in their final group outing against Nemo Rangers will suffice if the prospect of a relegation play-off is to be avoided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Bantry began without an injured Ruair\u00ed Deane and lost Billy Foley in the warmup. Yet, the Blues, thanks to the aid of a strong wind, were quickly ahead thanks to Eoghan Minihane and Shane Keevers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Jamie O\u2019Hanlon pointed at the opposite end before his Agahda opened up Bantry\u2019s defence for Diarmuid Byrne to goal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Paddy Cronin responded before three unanswered Pearse O\u2019Neill, O\u2019Hanlon and Byrne scores pushed Aghada 1-4 to 0-3 ahead after 11 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Arthur Coakley kept the West Cork club in touch via a two-point free. Yet, Agahda\u2019s ability to expose the Blues\u2019 defence saw the East Cork side raise a second green flag when corner back Kyle O\u2019Shea finished off a flowing move after 13 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/4754175_1_articleinlinemobile_LC_20pifc_2002.jpg\" alt=\" Paddy Cronin on the ball for Bantry. Picture: Larry Cummins<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Coakley and Keevers responded before Jack Colbert and Cork U20 Dara Sheedy swapped points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The scores kept coming at the end of high-octane opening half as Jamie O\u2019Hanlon landed a free.
