More recently, Chalmers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theaustralian.com.au\/nation\/politics\/jim-chalmers-laborfocused-plan-to-tap-big-super\/news-story\/51eee6c9b16703a58850ec218c60971f\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">flagged<\/a> the importance of making sure that superannuation funds could invest in housing and energy \u2014 two Labor priorities. Chalmers also tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afr.com\/policy\/economy\/future-fund-opposed-investing-in-future-made-in-australia-20250101-p5l1jn\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">direct the government\u2019s own superannuation fund<\/a>, the Future Fund, to target Labor\u2019s priorities in housing, manufacturing and energy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Superannuation funds aren\u2019t a tool of government policy, not even the Future Fund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Albanese government has form in treating Australians\u2019 superannuation as a policy tool for itself.
