A photographer in Yellowstone National Park captured the moment a \u201cvery foolish\u201d man decided to taunt a pack of wolves.<\/p>\n
The horrifying incident took place at the U.S. national park on the morning of October 6. Photographer Keith Allen Kerbs shared the footage<\/a> to his Instagram page. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m in Yellowstone most of this week to photograph the scenery and wildlife,\u201d Kerbs writes. \u201cSo far, I\u2019ve seen quite a bit which I\u2019ll share soon but had to share this video I took this morning from a safe distance of a very foolish man and a pack of wolves.\u201d <\/p>\n The video starts as the man is backing up with at least five wolves bearing down on him. Incredibly, the man squares up to the wolves and sprays what is presumably bear spray at them. People can be heard screaming at him to fall back. <\/p>\n \u201cThis could end very badly for that guy,\u201d a fellow photographer says. \u201cYeah, you think?\u201d Kerbs replies. The man disappears into a ravine while the gathered photographers express their disbelief, calling him a \u201cknucklehead.\u201d Kerbs notes on Instagram that the man \u201calmost didn\u2019t make it out alive.\u201d <\/p>\n New video shows a man approaching a pack of wolves in Yellowstone National Park. He says he was roughly a mile from the action. <\/p>\n A spokesperson for the National Park Service tells People<\/a> the incident \u201cwas reported to National Park Rangers at Yellowstone,\u201d and that the man \u201cwas found and cited.\u201d The incident remains under investigation. <\/p>\n The owner and operator of Yellowstone Wildlife Guide Company, Evan Stout, tells SFGate<\/a> that the wolves in the video were pups born earlier this year. \u201cThey were curious,\u201d he says. \u201cIt was probably their first-ever interaction with a human.\u201d <\/p>\n On Yellowstone\u2019s website<\/a>, it says wolves \u201crarely pose a threat to people\u201d but adds that \u201cif they become too comfortable around humans, safety concerns can arise.\u201d Maintaining wolves\u2019 natural wariness of humans is a \u201ckey goal of Yellowstone\u2019s wolf management.\u201d<\/p>\n Image credits:<\/strong> Header photo licensed via Depositphotos<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n
