<\/p>\nA Status Yellow warning for low temperatures was issued by Met \u00c9ireann for 10 counties, coming into effect at 11pm on Thursday night and remaining in place until 8am today.<\/p>\n
The warning is in place for counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, and Tipperary.<\/p>\n
There would be widespread frost and some icy stretches, Met \u00c9ireann said, with minimum air temperatures of -3C. Temperatures may be even lower in some local areas.<\/p>\n
Possible effects during the warning include hazardous travelling conditions and animal welfare issues.<\/p>\n
According to its extended-range forecast, Met \u00c9ireann said low pressure in northern parts of Europe would lead to \u201cwetter than average\u201d rainfall with \u201cabove normal\u201d temperatures for this time of year.<\/p>\n
As for the remainder of this week, it is set to turn \u201cunsettled\u201d with spells of rain. <\/p>\n
It will be a cold morning right across the country, with widespread frost and some icy stretches predicted. It will a dry and sunny start before cloud builds up to bring some patches of light rain or drizzle.<\/p>\n
After developing in the west, that cloud and rain will spread across the country during the afternoon, and it will turn breezy. That rain may turn heavy at times in the west.<\/p>\n
Highest temperatures during the afternoon will range between 3 and 9C. It will be coldest in the north and east of the country.<\/p>\n

As we move towards the end of the week, Met \u00c9ireann forecasts a less cold, but more unsettled period. Friday night will bring wet and blustery conditions at first, followed by some clear spells. Overnight temperatures will be slightly higher than Thursday, with lows of 0 to 5C.<\/p>\n
There will be milder daytime temperatures this weekend, as Saturday looks set to be a wet day with highs of 7 to 12C.<\/p>\n
Saturday night will bring another bounce in overnight temperatures, with lows of 1 to 7C expected. It will stay unsettled, with rain, showers, and strong winds.<\/p>\n
Conditions will remain wet and windy on Sunday, when temperatures during the day will be between 7 and 10C. Showers will persist into Sunday night.
