A man in his sixties has died in a house fire in Cork city.<\/p>\n
The blaze occurred at a property on Noonan’s Road on the south side of the city at around 3am today.<\/p>\n
Units of the Cork Fire Brigade and garda\u00ed were at the scene within minutes.<\/p>\n
Members of the fire brigade had to use breathing apparatus in order to enter the house.<\/p>\n
A man was found unresponsive in an upstairs bedroom of the house.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He received treatment from paramedics at the scene before being transferred to Cork University Hospital (CUH).<\/p>\n
He was subsequently pronounced dead in the hospital.<\/p>\n
The Office of the State Pathologist has been contacted. A post-mortem examination is due to take place.<\/p>\n
A forensic examination of the property will be carried out to determine the cause of the blaze.<\/p>\n
However, the initial indications are that the fire was accidental in nature.
