All of the Guinness character, just a little lighter! Great for when you’re in the mood for a pint but with a little less alcohol! Just ask for a ’60/40′.

“Always drink responsibly. This product contains alcohol and is not a 0.0 option. 1 pint contains approx 60% Guinness 0.0 and 40% Guinness 4.2%.”

The post also shows that the ’60/40′ is still poured using the traditional two-stage method, with Guinness Zero going in first. This hybrid drink aims to provide a lower alcohol option, bringing the ABV down from 4.2% to roughly 1.7%.

Palmerstown House Pub is now serving what it calls the ’60/40′ Guinness(Image: Instagram/palmerstown_house)

Reception to the idea has been unsurprisingly mixed. One person joked that it was “semi skimmed Guinness”, while others were far less impressed.

Some commenters dismissed it outright with comments like “Nah you’re good” and “Ring the Guards. The Guards are to be rang”. Another declared it “a load of nonsense”, while others stated it “should be illegal”, called it “a hard no”, said “this is just wrong” and even claimed “this is a crime”.

But amid the backlash there were plenty of supporters, with some pushing back at the negativity. One fan wrote: “I’ve asked for this in a few pubs and been looked at like I was a mentalist! Great to see you making it an actual thing”. One commenter criticised the outrage, saying: “People crying about people wanting to drink a bit less alcohol or maybe have a couple and still be able to drive. Nobody is forcing it on you. Drink what you like, just relax and let others drink what they want too”.

Others kept it short, adding “Rate this”, “Brilliant idea” and “This is such a good idea!”

Daragh Curran, known on social media as The Guinness Guru, believes the whole thing comes down to clever promotion. He told The Telegraph: “This is obviously done to go viral and fair play because it obviously works. I know if I make a video about it, it will get clicks and views, so I’ll probably go and make a video trying it, so fair play to them in that sense.”

Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.

A Dublin pub’s new 60 40 Guinness drink is dividing fans of the black stuff and people can’t…

[73
5051,79,52,18,11545,19,17,17924
0":"post-196485","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-business","8":"tag-alcohol","9":"tag-business","10":"tag-dublin","11":"tag-eire","12":"tag-guinness","13":"tag-ie","14":"tag-ireland","15":"tag-pubs
["GET
