The Police Service of Northern Ireland<\/a> (PSNI) and members of the emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of a collision which occurred on the Old Ballynahinch Road, outside Saintfield, at around 5pm yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\nMembers from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended and five people – a man, two women and two children – were taken to hospital.<\/p>\n
An NIAS spokesperson said three patients were taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast and two were taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.<\/p>\n
Both women and one child are being treated for injuries which are described as “serious”.<\/p>\n
The PSNI said The Old Ballynahinch Road was closed for a time due to the road traffic collision, but has since reopened.<\/p>\n
An investigation into the two-vehicle collision is underway and the PSNI are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.<\/p>\n
PSNI Sergeant Campbell said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this, or who may have dashcam footage of the area between 4:45pm and 5:30pm to please get in contact with officers on 101, quoting reference 1021 of 22\/11\/25.”<\/p>\n
