Jamie Carragher <\/a>has called out Mohamed Salah and believes the Liverpool<\/a> forward should “come out and speak for the team” after the Reds suffered a SIXTH defeat in seven Premier League matches.<\/p>\n Arne Slot’s side were beaten 3-0 by Nottingham Forest<\/a> at Anfield on Saturday – a result that dropped the Reds down to 11th in the top flight and left them a mammoth 11 points behind leaders Arsenal<\/a>.<\/p>\n Reflecting on another disappointing defeat and Liverpool’s woes, Carragher singled out Salah as someone who should speak about the club’s current situation, rather than captain Virgil van Dijk.<\/p>\n Carragher cited that Salah often came out and spoke about his contract situation last season, but claimed that he has decided to remain silent with Liverpool going through a difficult run of form.<\/p>\n READ MORE: Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Real Madrid move takes new twist as ‘strained’ relations emerge<\/a>READ MORE: ‘Liverpool should feel aggrieved’ \u2013 New referee and VAR verdict says everything<\/a><\/p>\n Carragher told Sky Sports<\/a> Monday Night Football<\/a>: “I don’t know. Nobody knows. The manager sees the players every day and he can’t quite fix it at the moment. We are talking about a manager who has won the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n “I think Virgil van Dijk, after the game, has come out again and spoke as he should do as the captain and called Liverpool a mess. I must say on the back of all these Liverpool defeats it’s always Van Dijk who comes out.<\/p>\n “And as I have said, the captain should do that but there should be other players in that dressing room coming out and speaking for the club.<\/p>\n “A year ago this weekend, Mo Salah<\/a> wasn’t shy in coming out and speaking about his own situation, about the club not offering him a contract.<\/p>\n “I only ever hear Salah speak when he gets man of the match or he needs a new contract.<\/p>\n “I would like to see Salah come out as one of the leaders, one the legends of Liverpool, come out and speak for the team. It shouldn’t always be the captain.”<\/p>\n Salah has scored just four goals and provided two assists in 12 Premier League appearances this season. It’s a far cry from his best-ever English top flight campaign in 2024\/25, where he directly contributed to 47 goals.<\/p>\n As for Liverpool, they picked up just 18 points from a possible 30 this term. After the defeat to Forest, head coach Slot said: “How bad [the result is], that is difficult to measure, but it was very bad of course. Playing at home, losing 3-0, no matter which team you face is, of course, a very, very, very bad result.<\/p>\n “Unexpected if you look at the first half-hour of the game [because] in my opinion [it was] a good start from us. [I] haven’t seen us creating so much in the first half-hour of a game maybe throughout the whole season.<\/p>\n “I’m not sure because I don’t remember every single game now, but we were able to create a lot.
