But if you\u2019re feeling left out because your Android phone can\u2019t do the same just yet, you might be happy to hear what Qualcomm has to say. The chipmaker has now confirmed that it\u2019s working to bring this cross-platform file sharing feature to Snapdragon-powered phones, massively widening the pool of Android devices that may soon join the Quick Share-AirDrop party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t want to miss the best from Android Authority?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/andauth.co\/AAGooglePreferredSource\" class=\"e_Em\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\"><img class=\"e_Gg\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"google preferred source badge light@2x\"  alt=\"google preferred source badge light@2x\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/google_preferred_source_badge_light@2x.png\"\/><img class=\"e_Gg\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"google preferred source badge dark@2x\"  alt=\"google preferred source badge dark@2x\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/google_preferred_source_badge_dark@2x.png\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Replying to Google\u2019s announcement on X, Qualcomm said, \u201cCan\u2019t wait for people to use this once enabled on Snapdragon in the near future.\u201d The company didn\u2019t go into details about which Snapdragon-powered phones will support AirDrop transfers with iPhones, or if it\u2019s collaborating with Google somehow to enable the new interoperability on its Snapdragon chipsets. However, Google had previously mentioned that it would \u201cwork with industry partners to make connecting and communicating across platforms a secure, seamless experience for all users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Snapdragon\/status\/1991959188722045398\" class=\"e_9k e_f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow\"><img class=\"e_Gg\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  title=\"Snapdragon AirDrop Support X Post\"  alt=\"Snapdragon AirDrop Support X Post\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Snapdragon-AirDrop-Support-X-Post.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Nothing is also getting in on the action. The company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/nothing-phone-apple-airdrop-support-3618446\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced last week<\/a> that it\u2019s working to bring the functionality to its phones, making it one of the first OEMs other than Google to publicly commit to supporting cross-platform sharing. Google has already promised to improve the experience and expand the feature beyond the Pixel 10 series to more devices.<\/p>\n<p>All of this momentum comes after Google <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/google-airdrop-apple-quick-share-eu-rules-3618395\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">quietly built the bridge to AirDrop<\/a>. As we understand, some of the speculation around why this became possible doesn\u2019t quite line up with the facts. There\u2019s been chatter that the EU has forced Apple to replace its proprietary AWDL protocol, the secret sauce behind AirDrop, as part of the Digital Markets Act. But a closer look at the DMA interoperability documents shows no such requirement. The EU simply mandates that Apple implement Wi-Fi Aware to ensure basic interoperability, and Apple has already done that.<\/p>\n<p>That alone doesn\u2019t mean AWDL had to be retired. In fact, the same documentation clearly states that AWDL and Wi-Fi Aware are not compatible, and the two can coexist. Apple still uses AWDL for AirDrop today. Which is why the bigger twist here is that Google didn\u2019t rely on Apple abandoning AWDL at all; it actually added AWDL support directly into Quick Share.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with Qualcomm stepping in, the feature may no longer remain a Pixel perk. In other words, if you are jealous of the Pixel 10\u2019s new superpower, you might not have to feel that way for too long. That said, we\u2019ll have to wait and see how Qualcomm plans to bring this support to Snapdragon-based Android devices.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for being part of our community.
