Gestational thyroid imbalance has been associated with atypical neurodevelopment, including increased risk of autism spectrum disorder\u00a0(ASD).\u00a0Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts with\u00a0others\u00a0and experiences the world.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>We found that while adequately treated chronic thyroid dysfunction was not associated with increased\u00a0autism\u00a0risk\u00a0in offspring, ongoing imbalance across multiple trimesters was.
