{"id":200651,"date":"2025-11-26T05:26:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T05:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/200651\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T05:26:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T05:26:11","slug":"asylum-seekers-may-have-to-contribute-up-to-40-of-income-for-state-accommodation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/200651\/","title":{"rendered":"Asylum seekers may have to contribute up to 40% of income for State accommodation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Asylum seekers could be required to pay between 10% and 40% of their weekly income towards the cost of their State accommodation under new proposals going to Cabinet tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>The plan, brought forward by justice minister Jim O\u2019Callaghan and migration minister Colm Brophy, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/news\/politics\/arid-41736054.html\">forms part of efforts by the Coalition<\/a> to tighten conditions for those seeking protection as pressure on accommodation capacity continues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Under the proposed model, a person earning up to \u20ac150 a week would contribute \u20ac15.
