But buyer beware, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/11\/health\/yummy-spice-can-boost-brain-health-but-too-much-is-toxic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">too much cinnamon<\/a> can be toxic.<\/p>\n<p>Ginger<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew research suggests that ginger and its chemical constituent gingerol may induce GLP-1 production, which in turn has a hypoglycemic impact, explaining why ginger has long been prescribed to diabetic patients,\u201d the Heliopolis scientists said.<\/p>\n<p>Wheat<\/p>\n<p>Wheat protein hydrolysate, derived from wheat and rich in amino acids and peptides, is believed to lower blood glucose concentration by increasing the release of GLP-1.<\/p>\n<p>Fermented green tea<\/p>\n<p>Beverages like Kombucha are made by fermenting\u00a0tea\u00a0with a culture of\u00a0bacteria\u00a0and\u00a0yeast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S1756464618302470\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Some studies suggest<\/a> that compounds in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/10\/health\/is-green-tea-really-natures-ozempic-what-experts-say\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">green tea<\/a>, particularly EGCG, can stimulate GLP-1 release.<\/p>\n<p>Berberine<\/p>\n<p>A little-known substance found in a variety of plants, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nccih.nih.gov\/health\/berberine-and-weight-loss-what-you-need-to-know\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">berberine<\/a> may be the closest thing to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/09\/15\/natural-ozempic-could-contain-deadly-ingredient-fda-warns\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cnatural Ozempic.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A 2022 review of 18 studies reported that a berberine supplement reduced body weight, BMI, fasting blood glucose and LDL (or \u201cbad\u201d) cholesterol.<\/p>\n<p>Dubbed \u201cmedicinal plants,\u201d these five foods won\u2019t work as well as Ozempic, but they come with far fewer potential side effects. Think <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/17\/ozempic-burp-latest-horrible-side-effect-of-weight-loss-drug\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sulfur burps<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/04\/25\/health\/people-with-ozempic-face-are-doing-this-to-fight-wrinkles-and-sagging\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sagging jowls<\/a>\u00a0phenomenon known as \u201cOzempic face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are other options, too. <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/13\/health\/eating-this-before-breakfast-and-lunch-can-mimic-ozempic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A recent study <\/a>found that consuming whey protein shakes before lunch resulted in a reduced appetite.<\/p>\n<p>And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clinicalnutritionjournal.com\/article\/S0261-5614(25)00217-1\/fulltext\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">other research <\/a>determined that dietary fiber supplements improved blood sugar control and insulin sensitivity in overweight and obese individuals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cNature\u2019s Ozempic\u201d may sound too good to be true.
