Leitrim GAA has paid tribute to a “talented and beautiful” young teacher who passed away recently.<\/p>\n
Maeve Haslette (n\u00e9e Kerrigan), who was married to former Leitrim GAA<\/a> player, Ronan Haslette, passed away in Sligo University Hospital on Monday November 24, 2025.<\/p>\n Paying tribute to Maeve on social media, Leitrim GAA<\/a> expressed their condolences to Maeve’s beloved husband, Ronan, her father, brothers and the rest of her family and friends.<\/p>\n “Leitrim GAA extends our deepest sympathies to Maeve\u2019s husband Ronan, her father Seamus, brothers Shane, Pauric and James, and the extended Kerrigan, Haslette and Dolan families on the sad passing of Maeve Haslette (n\u00e9e Kerrigan), Towneymoyle, Manorhamilton.<\/p>\n “Ronan is a former Leitrim star and has been a long-time supporter and fundraiser for Leitrim GAA, while the Kerrigan family\u2019s Kerrigan Group are valued sponsors of our Minor team. Ar dheis D\u00e9 go raibh a h-anam d\u00edlis,” the tribute read.<\/p>\n Countless other people, some friends and some complete strangers, have also being paying tribute to Maeve.<\/p>\n “Rest In Peace Maeve, you were an angel, too good for this world. An absolute pleasure to be around,” said one devastated friend.<\/p>\n A parent of children once taught by Maeve said: “Sincere condolences to all Maeve\u2019s family and friends. Maeve taught both my sons and was a wonderful teacher. She will truly be missed. May she Rest in eternal peace.”<\/p>\n A third person added: “I am shocked to learn of the passing of Maeve. She was a lovely girl. May her gentle soul rest in peace.”<\/p>\n Maeve will repose at Our Lady’s Hospital Chapel, Manorhamilton (F91 XO12) on Wednesday November 26 from 3pm to 8pm. Removal on Thursday to St Osnat’s Church, Glencar (F91VK85) to arrive for 1pm Requiem Mass with burial afterwards in Diffreen Cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, to the Intensive Care Unit, Sligo University Hospital.<\/p>\n As a mark of respect, Kerrigan Quarries, \u00d3staw8 Restaurant, Costcutters, Thornton’s Butchers and Merenda and Manorhub will all be closed on Thursday November 27.<\/p>\n
