{"id":201612,"date":"2025-11-26T18:09:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T18:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/201612\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T18:09:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T18:09:09","slug":"up-to-e1bn-ringfenced-for-east-donegal-ten-t-road-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/201612\/","title":{"rendered":"Up to \u20ac1bn ringfenced for east Donegal Ten-T road project\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Funding of up to \u20ac1 billion is set to be \u2018ringfenced\u2019 for the Ten-T road project in east Donegal, it has been announced today.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project will see the construction of 42km of road network between Letterkenny, Manorcunningham, Lifford and the Ballybofey Stranorlar Bypass. This includes the Bonagee Link\/Bridge over River Swilly to ease traffic congestion in Letterkenny.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegaldaily.com\/2025\/10\/31\/cpos-for-e1bn-donegal-ten-t-road-project-to-be-published-in-january-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">we reported<\/a><\/strong> that CPOs for the crucial project would be published in January.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Pat \u2018the Cope\u2019 Gallagher welcomed the government\u2019s announcement, confirming that funding will be ring-fenced once the project successfully completes the statutory planning process. The project has also been reaffirmed as part of the \u201cBarring unforeseen delays, construction is expected to begin in late 2028 or early 2029,\u201d Deputy Gallagher said.<\/p>\n<p>The A5 project remains a critical cross-border component of the wider scheme.
