Elton John<\/a> has spoken about how his celebrity friends such as Paul McCartney<\/a> and Mick Jagger<\/a> often check in with him as he deals with losing his sight in one eye.<\/p>\n

The music star said he \u201clost my right eye and my left eye\u2019s not so good\u201d but he is hopeful that \u201csome day science will help me with this one\u201d.<\/p>\n

John, who has just announced that he will headline a festival in Brazil next year, told US magazine Variety: \u201cIt\u2019s been devastating.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last 15 months have been challenging for me because I haven\u2019t been able to see anything, watch anything, read anything.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had the most incredible life, and there is hope. I\u2019ve just got to be patient that some day science will help me with this one.\u201d<\/p>\n

John said he liked staying in touch with his friends such as singers Chappell Roan<\/a> and Brandi Carlile online as it was easier to see them on a screen than in person.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe thing with my iPad is, I can actually see someone close up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I often call Chappell, and of course I always call Brandi because she\u2019s one of my best friends.<\/p>\n

\u201cPaul McCartney FaceTimes me to see how I\u2019m doing. It\u2019s really beautiful. The love I\u2019ve received from him and from Pete Townshend and Mick Jagger and people like that has been amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

John, who headlined Glastonbury Festival<\/a> in 2023 as part of his 330-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, added: \u201cYou just have to grin and bear it. It does get me down sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n

John previously told how a severe eye infection last year had left him with only limited vision in one eye.<\/p>\n

His partner, film-maker David Furnish, with whom he has two sons, also told Variety that experts had managed to make \u201csome improvements in his left eye\u201d.<\/p>\n

Furnish told the magazine: \u201cWhat AI is doing for medicine and science alone is astonishing.
