A mansion once owned by slain criminal Fat Andy Connors<\/a> goes under the hammer today \u2013 and is likely to be sold for a fraction of what it was once valued at.<\/p>\n

The mansion \u2013 called The Villa \u2013 is to be auctioned off online with a minimum opening bid of \u20ac380,000.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a far cry from the \u20ac3 million prolific burglar Connors \u2013 shot dead in August 2014 \u2013 put it on the market for in 2005 after he had settled a tax bill with the Criminal Assets Bureau<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The house is being auctioned after CAB secured a High Court<\/a> order against Connors\u2019 widow Ann for a cool \u20ac2.5 million in February 2017 \u2013 as part of an investigation into his finances.<\/p>\n

The sale of the mansion on the Blessington Road near Tallaght<\/a> in Dublin 24 will go towards paying off the outstanding bill with CAB.<\/p>\n

Andy Connors, 45, was a leading member of a Tallaght-based crime<\/a> gang that roamed the country carrying out burglaries \u2013 offences he made a fortune from.<\/p>\n

He had a string of properties, but now his wife only has control of the Ranch, a house in Saggart where Connors was shot dead in front of her in August 2014.<\/p>\n

Nobody has ever been convicted of that crime.<\/p>\n

The Villa, which has been boarded up for several years, was the scene of a fire in August \u2013 although the property itself was undamaged.<\/p>\n

It is being auctioned off online by BRG Gibson Auctions \u2013 and bidding is scheduled to last for just over an hour on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The auctioneers describe The Villa as a spacious detached five-bedroom house, with excellent potential for modernisation and refurbishment.<\/p>\n

They also say it will appeal to a range of buyers and investors and is well serviced by public transport, including Luas<\/a> and Dublin Bus<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They also say of the 1.1 acre site: “The spacious accommodation includes an entrance hall, open-plan kitchen and dining area, utility room, lounge, separate dining room, and a family bathroom at ground floor level.<\/p>\n

“Upstairs comprises five well-proportioned bedrooms, including a master with en suite, together with a main bathroom.<\/p>\n

“The property now requires renovation and modernisation throughout, offering an excellent opportunity for purchasers to modernise and finish the home to their own specification.<\/p>\n
