Ikkis, set to release next month, will be the actor\u2019s final big-screen appearance. Dharmendra&#8217;s moving poem in Ikkis<\/p>\n<p>Maddock Films, the production house behind <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/htcity\/cinema\/during-shoot-of-dharmendra-s-last-film-ikkis-with-agastya-in-lucknow-fans-kissed-his-chair-and-applied-mud-on-forehead-101763971442985.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Ikkis\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ikkis<\/a>, shared the poem with a video from the film, on their social media channels on Friday morning. \u201cDharam Ji was a true son of the soil, and his words carry the essence of that soil. This poem by him is a yearning; a tribute from one legend to another. Thank you for gifting us this timeless verse,\u201d the caption read.<\/p>\n<p>The video shows Dharmendra\u2019s character returning to his village in Punjab and going back to his hometown and old house, meeting old friends, and recalling fond memories. The poem, titled \u2018Aj bhi ji karda hai, pind apne nu jaanwa\u2019, translates to \u2018I still yearn to return to my village\u2019. In the poem, Dharmendra talks about wanting to go back home, bathe in the pond with the cattle, and play kabaddi with friends like he used to as a kid. He says that there is no match for the \u2018pind vali zindagi\u2019 (village life), and closes the verse with a line about missing his mother.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the video, one fan wrote, \u201cSo moving!\u201d Another said, \u201cThis brought tears to my eyes.\u201d Many wrote comments that they missed Dharmendra, calling him a legend.<\/p>\n<p> Dharmendra&#8217;s death<\/p>\n<p>The veteran actor died on 24 November at the age of 89. He had been battling health issues for some time and had been briefly hospitalised earlier in November.<\/p>\n<p> All about Ikkis<\/p>\n<p>Ikkis will mark his final appearance on film in a career that has spanned over six decades. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the war drama is a biopic of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of Param Vir Chakra. The film stars <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/topic\/agastya-nanda\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Agastya Nanda\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Agastya Nanda<\/a> in the lead, along with Jaideep Ahlawat, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, and Rahul Dev.
