It involved signing up to a monthly email listing the discounted fares available as well as other promotional material.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Subscribers could purchase up to 12 flights a year, and were able to reserve one of the allocated Prime seats as long as one was available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The package also included travel insurance covering cancellations arising from a range of circumstances, delays, stolen baggage and, in most cases, medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ryanair chief marketing officer Dara Brady described the offer as \u201ca no-brainer\u201d when it was launched in March, and said the service would be \u201climited to\u201d 250,000 subscribers, more than four times the number who ultimately signed up. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a statement on Friday, Ryanair said it was closing the offering following an eight month \u201ctrial period\u201d on the basis it was costing the airline more money than it was generating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cOver the years, customers have asked for a Ryanair members scheme, so we trialled this Prime scheme over the last eight months,\u201d Mr Brady said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image audio_image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1754647931518-c07d65db-55b5-463e-ae51-976300c5837e.jpeg\"\/>If Irish households are so rich, why does it feel like an illusion?<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cTo date, we have signed up over 55,000 Prime members, generating over \u20ac4.4 million in subscription fees.
